Campdrafting
Lumen Christi has had several students participating over the weekends in various Campdrafting events. Mitchell and Lockie Reed, Macey and Ava Whitby, Jaala Apps and Maddie Nolan.
Campdrafting is a unique Australian sport involving a horse and rider working cattle. The rider (cuts out) one steer or heifer from the cattle in the camp and brings that beast to the front of the camp and block and turns that beast at least two or three times to prove to the judge that they have the beast under control. The rider then calls for the gates to be opened. The rider then proceeds to draft (work) the beast around a figure of eight courses in a larger arena.
Lockie Reed won the juvenile campdraft at delegate a few weeks ago, and Mitchell placed 6th on the weekend in Gunning.
Congratulations to all involved and good luck with the rest of the year.
Sarah Carli is connecting with Lumen Christi Catholic College on 4/04/2023 10:00 AM as part of the Olympics Unleashed program.
Olympics Unleashed connects athletes with schools across the country to inspire students to find and follow their passion and provide lessons in goal setting, overcoming challenges and developing resilience.
Sarah Carli will be drawing on their Olympic journey and overcoming challenges to compete in their chosen sport at the highest level to help inspire the students at Lumen Christi Catholic College to be the best they can be – whether that’s in school, at home, on the sporting field or with friends.
For more information on Olympics Unleashed visit www.olympicsunleashed.com.au
The students will learn from Sarah Carli's Olympic journey how to build resilience, the importance of setting goals and how to find what you are passionate about.
Students will hear firsthand from Sarah Carli about how they overcame challenges to compete in their chosen sport at the very highest level, and how some lessons they’ve learned in sport can help students to be the best they can be – whether that’s in school, at home, on the sporting field or with friends.

Dear Parents and Carers
Year 7 iHum teachers and students would like to invite you to the 2023 Living Museum, held in the Hall, on Tuesday, 4 April, from 2:00pm-3:00pm. The student-exhibitors have explored the story of an historical Australian character from the past, looking at key events in that person’s life and how this has shaped our nation. In the exhibition, the exhibitors take on the persona of that person and are able to talk about their life and achievements.
This is a celebration of the profiles and stories of Australians who have shaped the nation and reflect the values and spirit of what it means to be Australian. Exhibitors will be organised under the following themes:
- The Spirited,
- The Innovators,
- The Revolutionaries,
- The Resilient,
- The Curious,
- The Underdogs.
iHum classes welcome your attendance at the Living Museum. The teachers are Sarah-Jane Morgan and Kate Walker (7:1iHum); Michael Hergenhan (7:2 iHum); Alison Wilton (7:3 iHum); and Emma Hassan (7:4 iHum).
