Sports Wrap Term 4 Week 9
CRICKET - Cricketers dominate
Congratulations to our cricket team who went to Canberra 2 weeks ago to play Hennessey College, Young in a T20 game. Firstly the boys behaviour and sportsmanship was outstanding. We chased down their total in 11 overs and only 2 wickets down. Some outstanding catches, run outs and captaincy by Rory Deighton. Thank you to Mr Thompson for coaching the team

SOCCER –
Lumen had a boys and girls team go to Broulee on Monday to play in a friendly game against Carroll College. As the scheduled game was cancelled back in Term 2. Our boys went down 2-4 and the girls won 6-0. Well done on a great effort. Thank you to Mr Thompson and Mrs DeBorre for taking the teams.
BASKETBALL TRIALS PRIMARY
The trials for the Canberra Goublurn 2023 team were held in Canberra last Friday. Congratulations to Nico Martino and Imogen Daly for making the team. They will play in Wollongong next year in February.
SWIMMING CARNIVALS 2023
The school Swimming Carnivals will be held on:
- Thursday 2 February at Pambula Aquatic Centre for Primary
- Friday 10 February at Bega War Memorial Swimming Pool for the Secondary
- The primary carnival is for all students in Year 2 who turn 8 in 2023 – Year 6. There will be ungraded (25m (1 lap) events) and graded (50m (2 laps) events) and novelty events. For Kindergarten, Year 1 and those Year 2 students who are not turning 8, there will be fun novelty activities for you in the small pool, run by secondary students and staff. If students do not wish to compete, they are welcome to come to the carnival to support their friends. Parents are also welcome to come and watch.
- Please note that the Secondary Swimming carnival is on Friday 10 February at Bega War Memorial Swimming Pool. Unfortunately the pool could not accommodate us or give us an achievable date to have our swimming carnival on, so we will be busing students to Bega. We understand that this is not ideal but this was the only option available to us. To help with organisation could you please fill out the transport and events section on QKR
Your child's Book and Stationery Lists for the 2023 school year can be downloaded below.

- Kinder to Year 6 - Academic reports will be sent home with students (paper copy).
- Year 7 to 11 - Academic reports will be emailed to parents and also available on the Sentral Parent Portal.
Reports will not be ready for release prior to these dates.

UNSW Women in Engineering GIE FEAS Program is open for registrations
We are currently open for registrations for the 2023 GIE FEAS Program – an alternate pathway program for girls to UNSW Engineering.
Program participants undertake a hands-on real world engineering challenge facilitated by program partners Engineering World Health, and develop skills in design thinking, problem solving, communication and innovation and learn how engineering can assist communities in need and make a difference in the world
The program is capped at 100 places, and was waitlisted in 2022, so if you do have any students in Year 11 and 12 interested in joining, please encourage them to register and pay the $50 refundable registration fee to secure their place, as they are filling. The program runs from February to May, and there are two optional pillars with activities students can undertake across the year.
For more information about the program please visit the GIE FEAS Program webpage or watch this short 3-minute clip especially for educators. We also have a blog post written by a Year 11 student who participated in the program in 2022, if you would like to hear the student perspective.
