RAT Kits Round 3 - Friday, 4 March, 2022 |
Dear Families As directed, by the NSW Government Lumen Christi will be distributing a third round of RAT kits for all students and staff this week. When and how will the RAT Kits be distributed? Round 3 distribution of RAT kits will take place on Friday, 4 March 2022 and will include 4 tests for each child.
Parents and Carers should leave the pick-up location or the school site immediately after picking up their RAT kits. Why am I receiving RAT kits for my child? The use of RAT kits is an important step to support the health and wellbeing of our students and staff. They are a quick and easy screening tool to help detect COVID-19. You only need to use a RAT if your child is showing flu like symptoms. How do I use a RAT Kit to test my child? Detailed instructions are provided with each kit including how to use the tests, check results and dispose of the tests safely. You can also download instructions through the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) website. The TGA user guides will also contain a contact number for the suppliers if you need additional support. Testing is a simple process of placing a nose or throat swab in a chemical solution, which is put onto a scanning device. Results can be ready within 15 minutes. Use of RAT kits is highly recommended but not mandatory. When is the best time to test my child? It is recommended that RAT tests be completed at home in the morning before attending school. School staff will not be administering the rapid antigen tests to students. Reporting of RAT Results If a student or staff member receives a Positive RAT result, they need to:
Negative results do not need to be reported to Service NSW or to the College. Unwell at school? Any student or staff member who is unwell and/or displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to go home and stay until they can complete a RAT or PCR test.
What happens when a student or staff tests positive to COVID-19 Under the new close contact rules, schools are no longer included in contact tracing. The school community will be informed via Schoolzine when there is a positive case identified and advise families on public health advice, including monitoring for symptoms.
