Dear Parents and Carers
As directed, by the NSW Government Lumen Christi will be distributing a second round of RAT kits for all students and staff this week.
When and where can I collect my child's RAT kits?
Round 2 distribution of RAT kits will take place on Friday, 11 February 2022.
Parents and carers can collect their child's RAT kits from College Ampitheatre - adjacent to the parent car park (same location as Round 1 distribution - look for the yellow tent).
To avoid car park congestion and maintain social distancing, parents/carers should collect their child's RAT kits as per the table below. Families with surnames starting with:
A to G: 8:30am – 9:30am
H to O: 9:30am - 10:30am
P to Z : 10.30am - 11.30am
Parents and carers should leave the pick-up location or the school site immediately after picking up their RAT kits.
We are also unable to allow collection for other families.
Why am I receiving RAT kits for my child?
The use of RAT kits is an important step to support the health and wellbeing of our students and staff. They are a quick and easy screening tool to help detect COVID-19.
How do I use a RAT Kit to test my child?
Detailed instructions are provided with each kit including how to use the tests, check results and dispose of the tests safely. You can also download instructions through the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) website. The TGA user guides will also contain a contact number for the suppliers if you need additional support.
Testing is a simple process of placing a nose or throat swab in a chemical solution, which is put onto a scanning device. Results can be ready within 15 minutes.
Use of RAT kits is highly recommended but not mandatory.
When is the best time to test my child?
It is recommended that RAT tests be completed at home in the morning before attending school, twice a week on a Monday and Wednesday.
School staff will not be administering the rapid antigen tests to students.
Reporting of RAT Results
If a student or staff member receives a Positive RAT result, they need to:
-
- Record the positive RAT result through the Service NSW website at or on the Service NSW app;
- Notify the College of the positive RAT or PCR test result as soon as possible.
- Follow NSW Health advice to isolate for 7 days.
Negative results do not need to be reported to Service NSW or to the College.
Unwell at school?
Any student or staff member who is unwell and/or displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to go home and stay until they can complete a RAT or PCR test.
-
- If a student or staff member displays even mild COVID-19 symptoms, they must take a RAT or get a PCR test and isolate until they receive a negative test result.
- Students must not come to school until they are symptom free, even if they get a negative RAT result.
What happens when a student or staff tests positive to COVID-19
Under the new close contact rules, schools are no longer included in contact tracing. The school community will be informed via Schoolzine when there is a positive case identified and advise families on public health advice, including monitoring for symptoms.
