Dear Families
As we draw to the end of our first week of classes, the College reminds you of some important protocols to keep the Community safe and learning well.
Mobile Phones
While it is recognised that many students use mobile phones before and after school, phones are not to be used by students through the day. This includes recess and lunch. Please don’t text your child through the day, as this will put them in breach of College rules. If you need to get a message to a student, notify the Front Office. The message will be relayed at a time that will not disrupt the flow of classes and lesson delivery.
Should your child text you through the day, especially if they are communicating illness or a requirement to be picked up, please contact Reception. The appropriate processes, including contact of the Head of House will be put in place. Again, our aim is to be able to help with changed arrangements with the minimum of learning disruption.
College Hours
Lessons begin each day at 9:00am, concluding at 3:20pm. Please avoid late starts or early pick ups. The beginnings and conclusions of lessons are crucial for students to receive introductions and daily review of learning concepts and content. Equally, the conclusion of lessons are important moments for lesson consolidation, review and reinforcement of main points.
Covid
- Families were provided with RAT kits last week. Please continue to keep Monday and Wednesday as test days. We expect another round of test kits to be delivered next week. Collection details will be published soon.
- Please notify NSW Health and the College of Covid Positive results (lccc@cg.catholic.edu.au). As you are aware, we notify the community of daily tallies.
- If you have a case of Covid in your household, all members are required to isolate for 7 days from the first date of the first infection. Please do not send children to school in an infectious period (7 days from a Positive RAT/PCR result and until symptoms have passed).
- Children are not to return to school until all symptoms have passed. Please refer to Schoolzine (Attached) for full details.
- If your child is ill for any reason, please care for them at home until they are well again.
- Parents are unable to enter the College currently. Please follow the signs and directions at the front of the College.
Café
The Café is open daily for student lunches. Preferred Café ordering is on Qkr (no over counter sales). Please make your orders by the 9:30am cut off time.
Regards

Principal

Dear Families
Welcome to new and returning students. I have high hopes for the 2022 academic year. Many of you will have heard of the great results of our 2021 HSC students, and we intend to keep meeting their excellent standards.
By now most, families have collected their RAT kits ready to start at home testing. It is recommended that tests be taken on Monday and Wednesday each week but for those students attending tomorrow (Tuesday) please test this evening or in the morning.
Kinder and Year 7 begin their new classes tomorrow. We have a program of orientation activities to get everybody familiar with the College. I hope that our new students make friends quickly as they begin the wonderful learning journey in our College community. Please wear your new school uniform for the first day. As you become familiar with your timetables, you will know when to wear the PE uniform. I’m looking forward to meeting you all!
Welcome back to our Year 11 and 12 students who join us tomorrow 1 Feb. These are crucial years in your education for academic growth and for developing your community leadership. Please make the most of these years and the opportunities available at the College. The Heads of House are looking forward to sharing with you in leadership of the Houses.
Years 1 - 6, 8,9, 10 return to the College on Wednesday, 2 Feb. Please follow Sentral for your timetables and any updated messages. 2022 holds new challenges for each of you. Classes change, some of you take electives for the first time and your new teachers are eager to meet you.
Let’s get straight into the year with enthusiasm for our College!
Be the Light of Christ.

Dear Families
K, Y7, 11 and 12 returned to College today. We look forward to welcoming students in Years 1-6 and 8 - 10 tomorrow. Please see the some key message to ensure a safe and smooth start.
Swimming Carnival:
Our Cohorting arrangements and the logistics of the venue has caused a change to the Swimming Carnival Program. The Primary carnival on Thursday, 3 February will proceed as planned for Years 2 – 6. The Secondary School (7-12) Carnival scheduled for Friday, 4 February has been cancelled. Students who would like to represent the College in competitions across the Archdiocese should see Mrs Hergenhan to register their interest. They will be able to enter the competitor’s carnival on Friday. Normal timetabled classes apply for all other students.
Year 7 Camp:
We are unable to proceed with the scheduled Year 7 camp in Week 2. We have rescheduled the camp for Week 9 of Term 1. Parents will be sent more details as we draw closer to the time. As is the case, the Covid situation at that time will inform our decision-making. We hope that we can run the camp then. Week 2 classes will be onsite as per the student timetable.
Travel to School:
Public transport, by foot or Bicycle are preferred methods of student transport.
By Foot and Bus:
Students must conduct themselves in a safe manner on their way to and from school. College expectations about behaviour, public conduct, courtesy and respect apply to all students while they are in public. Our uniform is well recognised and students must be aware that they represent the College at all times while wearing the uniform.
By Bike:
It is a legal requirement that all users of bicycles wear a helmet. This requirement extends to the school grounds. Students who ride a bike to school are required to sign the Bicycle Rider’s Contract.
By Car:
Please use the Supervised Kiss and Go Zone at the front of the College. Parents can enter College grounds using the driveway loop around for easy access to the Kiss and Go. This is the quickest and safest method for drop off. There is minimal parking for parents. Please do not drop students off in the roadway of the carpark. Do not park in staff area or grassed area. Students in Years 11 and 12 who drive themselves are required to read and sign the Student Driver Agreement.

Dear Families
Through Schoolzine, our school will advise you daily when members of our school community test positive to COVID-19. We will inform you about the cohort (group) of students and staff who worked with this group of students who may have had contact with a person who was infectious with COVID-19.
While testing and isolation is no longer mandatory for exposures in school settings, NSW Health has provided advice on testing and isolation recommendations for the community following exposure to COVID-19. If notified about potential exposure, you should consider when making decisions for your child and family.
You are reminded that staff and students cannot attend school if they are showing any symptoms of COVID-19. These include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell/taste, muscle/joint pains, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, extreme tiredness, unexplained chest pain or conjunctivitis (eye infection).
If symptoms occur at any time, you should not attend school and should undertake a rapid antigen test. If a rapid antigen test is positive you/your child should isolate as someone who has tested positive to COVID-19. If you cannot access a rapid antigen test, you can attend a PCR (nose and throat swab) testing clinic.
Advice and further resources are available on the NSW Health website including COVID-19 guidelines and fact sheets for People who tested positive or were exposed to COVID-19. Additional resources are also available on the NSW Government website.
KEY COVID MESSAGES FOR FAMILIES
RAT Kits:
Rapid Antigen Test kits have been distributed to parents. Please ensure that you follow the testing regime outlined in the letter sent on Schoolzine RAT process 2401/2022 Monday and Wednesday are nominated test days. Please report positive cases to the school (lccc@cg.catholic.edu.au) and NSW Health. NSW Health provides advice for families to follow.
Masks
- Wearing of surgical masks indoors is required for all staff and students in Year 7 and above, and strongly recommended for all primary students.
- No vented or cloth masks should be worn. Students are to wear surgical masks as the mandatory minimum requirement.
- Masks are also strongly encouraged in outdoor settings where you cannot physically distance. Your child can remove their mask when eating, exercising and playing a musical instrument.
- Masks must be worn fitted over both the mouth & the nose.
Visitors and Hygiene:
- Only fully vaccinated visitors essential to delivering and supporting learning or wellbeing can come on a school site. Parents and carers are permitted for Kindergarten and Year 7 transition to school.
- Continued use of good hygiene, enhanced cleaning, good airflow and ventilation in learning spaces and physical distancing practices.
Mode of Learning:
The College is open for onsite learning. Throughout the pandemic, schools deliver learning in a single mode, either Face to Face, or Remote. While the school is open for onsite learning, the mode is Face to Face.
Students need to ensure that they are connected to the online platforms (in most cases Google Classroom and MS Teams). Teachers will post class messages and materials for all students in the course of their teaching. If students are absent due to Covid isolation, they will follow class messages and materials as posted by their teacher.
The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students are paramount at all times. As such, we will continue to ensure that all necessary health advice is closely followed.
Thank you for your support.
