We ask that you please complete the below survey.

This year, the Library has moved towards a Learning Commons model of delivery for library engagement, and the results have been well received by the students. At recess and lunchtime, the library continues to be a thriving hub of fun and excitement.
A Learning Commons is a versatile and dynamic learning space that promotes collaboration, critical thinking and information literacy skills, aligning with the goals of 21st century learning.
As lifelong learners, the Learning Commons seeks to prepare students with the skills to be a media literate, digital citizen that connects with and contributes to our world in a positive way.
This past term and a half, has been jam-packed with a wide variety of activities:
- All primary classes enjoy weekly library-led sessions on rich text exposure
- Year 7s learned to recognise AI-managed recommendation algorithms in social media, how platforms use their data, and how social media can create echo chambers of ideas
- Drama-inspired Australian time-travelling historical figures, visiting the Year 7 IHUM classes as part of their living history project
- Year 7s using critical thinking skills to examine media and news sources in an effort to understand fake news
- Year 10s unpacking AI trends in religion and contemplating the ethical and personal impact on faith and the future
- Years 11 and 12 experienced several subject-specific focus sessions on referencing, and how to find and identify quality sources within university level databases
- Senior students learning how to write a science-oriented abstract
- Senior students learning how to paraphrase and quote without plagiarism
- Students enjoy playing a range of educational games on our learning commons website
Learning Commons lessons not only dovetail into the curriculum being taught in the classroom, but they connect with the NSW cross-curriculum priorities and capabilities.
As well as a shift towards 21st century learning, the Library is enjoying a physical redevelopment with more focus on audience-led sections, and activity spaces for interest groups. More changes are afoot, so watch this space as we continue to grow! We invite parents to pop in and see what’s happening in the library and explore the website (www.lccclearningcommons.com which is best viewed on a PC and not a phone). We love inviting parents to help out with book covering, with great conversation, coffee and morning tea! Let us know if you would like to volunteer in this capacity.

Did you know that Catholic Education and our school has a Child Safe Policy which outlines our approach to child safety. This can be accessed on the Catholic Education Safeguarding Page. We encourage you to visit this page and review our policy. As part of our approach to child safety Justin Short is also our school's Child Safe Advocate who works closely with our school regarding our approach and response to child safety matters. This approach involves pro active strategies to safeguard our students as well as responding to areas of concerns. The area of child safety includes many parts of a school's operation such as day to day activities, school events and school camps. We encourage you to contact us should you like to discuss this further.
