Staff Changes for Term 2

Staff Changes for Term 2

As many families would be aware, we have had several staffing/role changes to start Term 2. Now that these have been finalised, we are pleased to announce the following acting positions for the term:

  • Principal: Dave Crawford
  • Assistant Principal (Learning Enrichment): Antoinette Woods
  • Director of Studies:    Naomi Aigner
  • Head of Faculty – Religious Education:    Michael Hergenhan
  • Primary Teachers:     Lynda Wylie, Melanie Ford and Rebecca Beed
  • Secondary Teachers:   Melissa Goodall and Marianne Kambouridis

We wish these staff well in their new roles.

Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT)

This week and next, students in Year 2-10 will complete PATMaths and PATReading in their Mathematics and English lessons in their classrooms.  These tests are online and adaptive, meaning that questions are tailored in real time to the ability of each test taker.

The College is working towards giving students and parents ownership over the data produced from these tests with a trial of feedback for Year 8 being distributed by the end of next week.  It is hoped that this overview may be used in PST interviews in Week 4 to lead discussions about learning.

Year 8 students and their parents will receive a single page overview for Maths and one for Reading which will

  • Show the individual’s scaled score and confidence band compared to the national average for their year level
  • Identify which substrands in Reading and Maths had correct or incorrect responses from the individual, providing insights into areas where attention is needed.

Staff will receive training in using PAT data, specific to their class, to analyse areas for revision, areas of confidence and how a student’s learning has progressed over time.

Across Catholic Education Canberra-Goulburn, students participate in PAT assessment for

  • Maths twice a year from Kindergarten to Year 10,
  • Reading twice a year from Year 2 to Year 10
  • Spelling, once a year from Year 2 - Year 10.
