Cricket News:

Berg Shield Team (7-9)

The boys played in Round 2 in Bateman’s Bay against St Joseph’s Albion Park. In a rain delayed, postponed, players out with illness game – the boys did well, but couldn’t bowl out a strong batter from Albion Park.

A big thank you to Mr Wels and Mr Hergenhan for taking the team in Mr Thompson’s absence.

Downie Trophy Team (10-11)

The boys headed to Marist College in Canberra to play Mater Dei Wagga Wagga in round 3 of the knock out competition. In a game that was looking like Lumen losing, some AMAZING bowling, fielding and team effort saw Lumen take out the win.

A big thank you to Mr Wels and Mr Whilton for taking the team.

They were due to play Edmund Rice Wollongong last week, but due to the rain it was postponed. And due to their school finishing this week and Year 10 out on camp, they will now play the quarter finals in 2024. With a date to be confirmed.

Archdiocesan of Canberra and Goulburn Sportsperson of the Year Award

A big congratulations to Jack C who has been awarded the sportsperson of the year award. Jack has enjoyed an immense amount of sporting success this year due to many hours of hard work and is a very deserving recipient of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Sportsperson of the Year in the Senior Boy’s Category. Jack has finished second in this category for the past two years and has gone one better this year which is a testament to both his talent and dedication. Congratulations Jack on such a successful year of sport and for being crowned our 2023 Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Sportsperson of the Year in the Senior Boy’s Category.

UOW_Year_12_Future_Me_Social_Media_Tile.jpg

The University of Sydney - Year 12 Regional Residential

 Year 12 Regional Residential

Monday 15 – Friday 19 April 2024

Explore our campus and prepare for future study at the University of Sydney

The University of Sydney is hosting an on-campus residential program for regional NSW Year 12 students in the 2024 April school holidays, and we invite you to express your interest to attend.

Supported by current students and faculty staff, this is an immersive experience where you will:

  • gain insight into a study area of your choice, including exploring careers with our industry partners and participating in hands on workshops that simulate what you’ll study in related courses
  • participate in workshops and information sessions to plan and prepare for the HSC
  • navigate pathway, scholarships and study options
  • learn about the Regional and Remote Entry Scheme and MySydney Entry and Scholarship Scheme
  • experience life as a University of Sydney student
  • meet and chat with current University of Sydney students
  • get familiar with our campus, visit accommodation options and see a little of Sydney city.

The University will organise and cover the cost of travel, accommodation, food and experiences that are part of the program.

Eligibility

Places are open to all regional NSW Year 12 students on an ATAR pathway with an interest in studying at the University of Sydney.

How to apply

As this program is in the holidays, you must complete the expression of interest (EOI) with personal details (including student declaration and parental/guardian consent) and respond to the selection criteria. We will contact you in mid-January 2024 to confirm if you have been accepted.

EOIs close 5 pm Wednesday 20 December 2023. Note that expressing your interest does not guarantee your place.

Places are limited, so get in quick by submitting your EOI.

Event details

Date: Monday 15 –Friday 19 April 2024
Location: The University of Sydney, Camperdown/Darlington campus
Accommodation: Rydges Camperdown

Have a question?

If you have any queries about the residential program, please contact us at schools.outreach@sydney.edu.au

Kind regards,
