PST Interviews will be held Thursday, 26 Oct (3:40pm-7:00 pm)

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Dear Families
As we open the term, we send our best wishes and prayers to all of the families and students who commenced the HSC exams this week. To be sure, it can be a stressful time for students, and it requires the resources and love of families in support of a successful season. I met with the students as they entered their English exams. There was a buzz of optimism and confidence, which I am sure they will sustain across the exam period. We are all looking forward to our next big event together, the Graduation Dinner on November 10.
Next week, we hold elections for new College Captains, and the cycle begins anew! Student leadership has been strengthening over past years, so we are enthusiastic to begin working with new leaders. I met with our Year 9 Commerce Class this afternoon. They will be running the voting process for the captains, using the same voting protocols as the Australian Electoral Commission, using AEC resources, applying features such as polling places, secret ballots and preferential counting. This is of course apt as we are on the eve of an infrequent, but important electoral event in this weekend’s referendum.
I am grateful to the work of the uniform committee over the course of this year. Uniforms take a lot of consideration, and our unform is important because it is a way of presenting ourselves as a College and showing respect to one another and our community. The uniform represents and reflects community expectations and standards. We hold ourselves at Lumen Christi to a high standard.
As a result of the work of the Student Leaders and the Uniform Committee, I am able to announce some changes to some of the uniform rules. We decided, under advice from our student leaders to focus on some of the things that we could adjust quickly. The main uniform items at this stage remain unchanged, and we have some new rules in consideration of jewellery, small items such as College socks, hair styles and footwear. The policy is attached.
I ask all parents to read the document carefully and to speak with your children about the changes. It is important that all families support the changes in honour of the work of the Uniform Committee, the input of the students and the efforts of the teachers who help students maintain the high standards each day.
As we embark on the new term, I send best wishes to all families, looking forward to seeing what we can do together as staff, students and families as we move toward 2024.
Be the Light of Christ.
